On February 13, 2010, Soul Amici Express celebrated it's official Grand Opening, Mardi Gras style, though our actual opening day was December 4th, 2009 commencing on the day of the Riverside Christmas Walk when Santa rolled into town.
For the Grand Opening, there was a lavish buffet of our special homemade items. There were over 100 in attendance, some wore masks and others enjoyed having their faces painted or obtaining keepsake caricatures. We were also entertained by a stiltwalker. Music for the evening was provided from the band "Elite" which played wonderful jazz renditions and other musical favorites. Some danced, others sang, overall it was a joyful night for all.
Riverside Fine Arts Festival held May 22nd and 23rd featured our 9 foot train BBQ Grill. It was an excellent event with great weather, wonderful artists and community support.
Wednesday, May 26th, a group of High School and College friends organized by Bill Bike came over and spent a wonderful evening of food and reminiscing. Tribute was paid to two friends who passed on early in life; Len Tomaszewski and Father Jim Johnston. Donations were made in their name to St. Mary of the Woods and St. Viator's High School.
On Friday, June 4th, Soul Amici Express rolled out it's BBQ Train Grill and cooked for over 700 people at the Monroe School end of the year family picnic in Hinsdale.
